We can announce that vuvezelas have been banned from The Midlands Music Festival.

The musical instrument that has plagued the South African World Cup this summer will not ruin anyone’s weekend in Tamworth.

Communciations director Damien Sanders said, “It’s a word that we didn’t know a week ago. The danger is that things spiral, England as a team progress and more and more branded vuvuzelas appear all over the place.”

“The idea of Westlife breaking into full song to be drowned out by 127 decibels or whatever it is was an absolute nightmare in the making so something that we thought to really step in and put an end to.”

“We’re the first music event to ban them but I don’t think we’ll be the last.”
